"But Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14 (NASB®)
During our Worship Service there is child care available downstairs in the Nursery room. Infants and children (ages birth through kindergarten) may be checked in at 9:50 AM or anytime throughout the service as they are welcome to stay for the singing and then be brought down by their parents and signed in. Please do not hesitate to ask an usher or greeter for directions to these areas.
"And He took a child and placed him among them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, “Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.”."
Mark 9:36-37 (NASB®)
The Nursery Ministry at Grace Church seeks to show the love of Jesus to children (infants through kindergarten age) through Christ-like care. Our CORI screened nursery workers provide a safe, secure, nurturing environment for children while leading a time of worship and teaching about the goodness of our God. There is a check in/check out procedure in place for each child and a silent usher system to notify parents if they are needed during the service.
Our children learned Psalm 20:7 as part of the lesson, "Deborah and the Big Battle." This true story is about how God's people got into big trouble when they stopped listening to Him. When Deborah and Barak began listening to God, He rescued his people and helped them win the battle against 900 chariots!
- Deuteronomy 32:2-3 NIV®
Beginning on Sunday, July 7th, children in first grade and older will be part of our morning worship service at Grace. There will not be a separate Children's Church at this time.
On June 30th, the kids personalized composition books for their sermon notes and added the Lord's Prayer to their inside covers. After praying together, we opened the pew Bibles to read along to the message that day from Mark 10: 13-16. They learned how precious and important children are to Jesus and how He needed to teach that to His disciples. Our teachers closed our worship time together by blessing each of the children with Numbers 6:24-26 before entering the sanctuary to praise and worship through singing.
The children's notebooks/pens are being stored in the front right pew to be picked up each week. There are extra books and pens there also. Kids are welcome to put them back after the service so they have them the next Sunday. We have provided families with the book, Parenting in the Pew by Robbie Castleman to guide them in this training. The book was written, "to help train children in the only "proper behavior" for church: worship!" Robbie Castleman shares that, "Teaching your children to worship -- parenting in the pew -- is entering the house of your heavenly Father and saying, 'Daddy, I'd like you to meet my children.' Worship is seeing your Father's smile." Soli Deo gloria!
"And they were bringing children to Him so that He would touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Allow the children to come to Me; do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them." Mark 10-13-16
Our kids learned Ephesians 6:10-11 in Children's Church as part of the lesson, "God Rules: Be Strong (Daniel)". The prophet Daniel didn't stop praying to God even when the king made prayer against the law. Daniel was strong in his faith and trusted in the LORD's protection.
Our kids learned Proverbs 3:5,6 in Children's Church as part of the lesson, "God’s Faithfulness: Return to Canaan". After 40 years of wandering in the desert, God brought the Israelites back to Canaan and this time the people chose to do things God's way!
