Teach Them Diligently
DEVOTIONAL LIVING
“Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up." Deuteronomy 6:4-7
Moon and the Stars Project: Celebrate the night sky with an art project.
“God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.” Genesis 1:16
"when you walk by the way...."
Go outside and look at the night sky with your children or grandchildren. Tell them that God made the moon and the stars. He calls each star by name! (Isaiah 40:26).
Paint a night sky with watercolors, salt and puffy paint. Brush water all over a piece of watercolor paper or cardstock. Load your paintbrush with water and a night sky color (purples, pinks, blacks and/or blues). Do this for each color you brush onto your paper. Next, sprinkle table salt and/or sea salt to some of the wet places on your paper and let dry. Cut a circle out of cardstock or watercolor paper. Mix equal amounts of shaving cream and school glue. Brush the glue mixture onto the paper circle and let completely dry. When dry, brush the salt off of your watercolor paper. Use a gluestick or glue to paste the dry, puffy moon onto your "night sky" paper. You can lightly paint a little color over your moon too.
Add “To Him who made the great lights, For His lovingkindness is everlasting: The sun to rule by day, For His lovingkindness is everlasting, The moon and stars to rule by night, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Psalm 136:7-9
There are two full moons this month (October 2020). We had a full moon on October 1st and there will be another on October 31st. This one is called a "Blue Moon," because it is the second of two moons in a calendar month. It will be rise at 5:56 pm here on Cape Cod. Celebrate the wonder of creation and the goodness of our Creator this week!
Soli Deo gloria!
Family Nature Project: Celebrate the Season together with a fall collage
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." Ecclesiastes 3:1
"when you walk by the way...."
Go outside on a "Thank you" walk with your children or grandchildren. As you look at a tree, say, "Thank you God for trees!" Continue pointing out God's creation and thank Him together. Gather leaves, petals, stems and seeds to make a Fall Collage. Cut two sheets of contact paper the same size. Peel the paper off one sheet of contact paper and tape it flat to a table. Place the items you collected onto the sticky side. When you are done, peel the other piece of contact paper and place the sticky side over the top of your collage leaving the leaves, petals and more inbetween!
Add Ephesians 5:20 to the bottom to remember to, "Always give thanks to God the Father for everything. Give thanks to him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Soli Deo gloria!
